Hung Lo's Somewhat Comprehensive Review of Final Fantasy: Endless Nova REVISITED Just a little note. I'm going to be reviewing the game's individual parts seperately, and then rating the game overall on how each individual part flows together with the others. Storyline and Dialogue: Rating the creativeness, the ideas, and the execution of the game's story. The actual story the game conveys is excellent. The concepts and ideas behind it are fairly unique, and the game is very enjoyable. The dialogue is absolutely fantastic, and much above what I expected in an Rm2k game. I'm going to play this game right through to the end. The game's storyline is both compelling and fantastical in nature, blending fantasy and science fiction elements so seemlessly it astounds me. The game's start, while a touch slow, quickly builds itself to a nice, quick pace and never looks back. Absolutely fantastic. This portion of the game can't be rated a higher. Aside from a few small errors in the starting, this game's dialogue, both in the writing mechanics and in the personality behind it is flawless. I'm very glad I kept myself open minded when I played this, because this game is probably my favourite. Appearance and Atmosphere: Rating the asthetics and audio of the game. The game's appearance and music were decent. Heavily edited RTP seemed to be the main theme throughout the game, though the RTP was used well, so this wasn't really a bad thing. The graphics, for the most part, were good, although some of the edits were a bit obvious, and the use of both Future and default RTP charset styles was a bit jarring. This was not too bad, however, since the mix of graphics generally worked well. The game's areas can be quite beautiful, and only get better as the game progresses. The music was neither memorable nor horrible. It was just there, and did it's job admirably. I never thought to turn the volume down, and at no point did I wish there was a different song playing. Quite a few FF songs in there, but hey! It's an FF game. :P This part of the game could have been improved if the author chose to use a more unified graphics scheme. Gamplay Mechanics: How much fun and effort has been put into the actual gameplay The game's gameplay is fantastic. The battle balance is, for the most part, spot on, and the ability for characters to steal techniques from enemies and learn them made for a really exciting and diverse game, and adds a lot to the replayability, since you can always try stealing different techniques from different enemies. Battles are neither too easy or too hard, and the different character's techniques make for an exciting game. The little blue dudes were a good idea, and the work on the Custom Menues was really well executed. In particular, I liked the Barter system. The interactivity with the game's environments gets greater and greater as the game goes on, progressing to unreal levels when you get past the first two areas. By the time you've arrived to the first "worldmap", you've generally got multiple paths through an area with plenty of sidequests. Overall Overall, this game was fantastic. If you haven't played this game yet due to the early release, give it another shot now. You will never regret it.
